African and Slavic dolls. From Voodoo to Motanka.
Ritually made Dolls are infused with life by their makers. In Africa, just like in the Slavic tradition, dolls are meant to be used for someone who needs help, though the definition of that help can vary from person to person.

Fehu, the rune of well lived life.
Strawberries in chocolate and champaign on Sundays. The traditional meaning of Fehu is cattle, wealth, and cycles like seasons or death and rebirth. In modern days, we might add such concepts as abundance, time management, professionalism, work, trade, prosperity and general nurturance and well-being. On a higher octave, Fehu represents the wealth of a well lived life, filled with prosperity, family, good times, good health and plenty of dumb good luck and great stories to share. Things that can not be bought with money. Its incredible that he story of the Runic alphabet begins with Fehu a symbol of eternal life force. Fehu being the universal principle of exchange, and…

THE TELL OF TWO DISTANT DECKS
LOVE KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES OF TAROT BOXES If you are like me, you might be such a flirt! A big romantic always curious about the innocent temptations of the world! Don’t get me wrong, I do have one and only whom I cherish above all, but no harm in being sweet to others, is there? I mean, your heart can surely love more than one deck of Tarot Cards! Can it not? When we first met, he was terribly dark, authentic, and handsome. The Thoth Tarot was the deck the shamans at the retreat I was taking a part in used to my surprise and delight. Pulling cards helped the…

The Self-Care Spread. Check in, listen, seek answers, and prioritize.
This self-care spread was inspired by an interesting journaling self-inquiry exercise I found in Mantra Wellness Magazine some time ago. It has to do with checking in where we’re self-sabotaging, and why certain things are not manifesting in our lives. I would say this spread belongs to the shadow work material, as we seek the answers about our fears and blocked potential, so it might be used only when that kind of work is required. The 11 cards will deliver a meaningful and deep reading, so make sure you’ve got the time to sit with it for a while and then take action as needed. Go deep for the answer, resist believing old stories,…

Motanki and other magical dolls around the world
In the world of Barbies and princesses the healing properties of a doll have been almost forgotten. The doll is considered merely a toy, yet in remote parts of the world, the magic of doll-making has withstood the pressure of time and deteriorating belief systems, and dolls have been used there to bring love, luck, prosperity, and protection. Being on a path of self-healing, I have used many techniques to bring wholeness to my life, Medicine doll-making being one of them. Creating a doll has proven to be a gentle and profound way of tapping into the hidden subconscious patterns, and connecting with the higher self, the Godself. The most…

Motanka – Talisman Doll for Love, Passion, Courage, Well-being, and Prosperity.
What is a Motanka Doll? Motanka doll is a handmade doll popular in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Russia. She is created with natural fabrics, often beautifully ornamented materials commonly made back in the day, and materials that hold special personal meaning to the maker – in modern terms, she is recycled artistic self-expression. Created without sewing nor waste, technically by reusing, upcycling and revaluing fabrics, and generally in a smooth, delicate manner with a positive mindset only ! We could still find traces of such a tradition in all parts of the Earth, in many cultures: “Martisor” in Romania and Moldova, “Martenici” in Bulgaria, baby comforter “Träumerle” in certain regions of Germany, faceless dolls in Mexico…

Happy Chinese New Year 2023.
I like that we have many New Years to celebrate in the yearly calendar. January 1st isn’t the only time for intention and goal setting. Chinese New year is an excellent time to do so, Chinese new year is always happening on the first New Moon of the year. We also have an astrological new year at Spring Equinox, around the 21st of March. In Celtic traditions, Samhain, which is known as the all – hollow, Halloween, was marking a New Year as well. So as you see, we have plenty of opportunities during the year to set new goals, and look at the ones we have achieved, or need…

Baba Yaga the Slavic Wild Woman
Baba Jaga is something of an outsider in the world of the mythos. Not a goddess, more a witch, she seems to have no matching counterpart in any other legends around the world. She is of Slavic descent, represented as a very scary old crone with a wealth of knowledge and tricks to get you motivated to take inspired action. If you fail, she will eat you! Her hut walks on a rooster’s leg – she devours living things – children mostly. She is constantly hungry and her cauldron is always steaming, the fire that heats it up is eternal. So is she. Killing her brings her back to…
